BMW is following up on the i8 with a hybrid edition of its production 3 Series. The prototype can reach speeds of 120 km/h on electric power, with a range of 35 km. BMW is also working with its 5 Series GT research vehicle in the quest for greater long-haul capacity among electric cars.
